Police in Fairborn are working to learn what led a driver to lose consciousness and crash at a gas station with a child on-board.

Police said drugs or a medical emergency may have led to the crash at the BP, 1040 Dayton Yellow Springs Road.

It appears the Jeep Grand Cherokee rolled away from one of the gas pumps and struck an electric utility box, according to police.

By the time crews arrived, the 5-year-old boy who was a passenger in the vehicle was standing outside, unhurt.

The driver was not conscious and she could not be removed from the vehicle until Dayton Power and Light responded to cut power to the utility box, according to police.

The driver, a woman in her 30s, was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Children services was called to take custody of the child.
