Peggy Weaver, an Esther Price spokeswoman, said both treats will be available for purchase by the end of October until Easter time.
The potato chips were introduced about 10 years ago. The delights hit the market in 2011.
They are similar to chocolate turtle candies except there are bites of pretzels where the peanuts would go.
Like turtles, Pretzel Caramel Delights are dangerously addictive.
The chocolate covered chips retail for $11.50 for 12 ounces. The delights are $6.99 for an eight ounce package.
Chocolate and pretzels are themes of the weekend.
PRETZELS
Julie Peck, a publicity volunteer for the 34th annual Germantown Pretzel Festival set,
delivered a package of Pretzel Caramel Delights to the Dayton Daily News as a way to promote her group’s festival, which is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m Sunday. The festival will be held at Veterans Memorial Park at the corner of Walnut and Warren streets in downtown Germantown.
The Esther Price Pretzel Caramel Delights will not be sold at the festival, but Peck said members of Saint Johns United Church of Christ will sell chocolate-covered pretzels for $1 a bag.
The church’s booth will be one of nearly 60 selling food items. The festival features more than 130 vendors in all.
Karren Martin, a festival volunteer, said food for sell ranges from frog legs to turkey legs. One vendor will serve a crawfish boil.
Admission to the festival is free.
CHOCOLATE
Faith and Friends Radio Chocolate Festival is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in the Montgomery County Fairgrounds’ Coliseum, 1043 S Main St., Dayton.
The free event will feature gospel singer Cheri Keaggy, a recipe contest, games, a kids’ play area and chocolate of course.
