Kettering reminded residents on social media that legitimate contact tracers will initially try to reach out by phone, and will never ask for information like your social security number, bank account number or other financial information.

The city also warned never to click on a link or respond to a text message saying that you have been exposed to the coronavirus.

Instead, Kettering said to contact your local health department if you are concerned that a call may not be legitimate, and to report scams to the Ohio Attorney General’s Office.
