Bellbrook residents to see 3.0-mill tax levy on November ballot

Bellbrook city council approved a resolution to request a new 3.0 mill, 5-year levy on the November 7 ballot, which city manager Mark Schlagheck said will help provide funding for fire, police and emergency medical services.

Bellbrook, which does not have a local income tax, has not had a city levy approved since 2009. Schlagheck said the tax levy would cost less than $9 a month per $100,000 of property value.

“State funding for Bellbrook has been significantly cut over the last few years – resulting in the loss of more than $1 million,” he said. “This includes reductions in the Local Government Fund and the elimination of the Estate Tax and other state-shared revenue.”

The additional revenue created by the levy would go toward adding full-time firefighter and police officer positions.
