With maximum emphasis on the safety of all personnel being the priority, commanders are being asked to begin slowly by bringing up to 20% of personnel back to work on base for mission-essential work. Leadership as all levels will continue to maximize the use of telework capabilities that have proven our ability to continue to do the Air Force’s work wherever we are.
We are taking slow, deliberate steps in bringing people back to work. It is the decision of individual units to decide which mission essential workers to bring back.
Our ultimate goal is to create an environment that gives our mission partners the greatest flexibility while reinforcing care and health for all of our employees. Furthermore, we want you to feel confident and comfortable with the tremendous efforts of all involved in the planning for this transition into Phase 1.
Finally, as we increase our “footprint,” we will also be adjusting our base services to support those returning to the installation. We want to make sure that everything from childcare, to base entry points, to food services are providing the appropriate amount of support for the population. Please know that it is a process that will evolve or regress depending on the health conditions around us. More to follow in these upcoming weeks!
This week, I want to pay tribute to our Security Forces on National Police Week. These incredible Airmen have been on the front lines during this pandemic, making our great community an incredible place to work and live. Our Security Forces will use next week to honor their law enforcement heritage from Air Police and Security Police days and remember those Defenders who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our great nation. If you are out and about on the installation and see one of our great Defenders in action, please take a moment to recognize them for the job they are doing.

Through all of this we have displayed an amazing amount of collective strength. As we start to see the light of things changing, we need the stamina to see the campaign all the way through. Our stamina is seen in our amazing mental and physical endurance in combatting COVID-19 over the past few months … that physical stamina has boosted those around you, has inspired those who needed it and kept us all healthy.
In the days to come this stamina will be seen in our collective emotional strength to continue … to drive-on through the darkness as we reach the light and lift those around you. Thank you for the stamina; thank you for the strength and thank you for the fortitude that got us to where we are now. Together we are making tremendous progress, and together we will beat this!
