Their subscription began shortly after they were married on July 9, 1955.
The Wallings have lived in Dayton, Clearcreek Twp. and Springboro through their years as suscribers. The Walling’s children spent time reading the paper when they lived at home.
Carol was in the paper frequently in the 1980s as she was an active volunteer for several Springboro area churches and organizations.
Carol Walling said her reading habits were formed early - World War II headlines on the papers her parents received at home when she was growing up. She still has copies of their own engagement and wedding announcements.
“When asked who informs my opinions about voting, fashion and sports, I realized it was the Dayton Daily News and Channel 7,” said George Walling. “I like that.”
