Coronavirus: 19 of 23 deaths in Miami County linked to nursing home outbreak

Another coronavirus death in Miami County is linked to a nursing home outbreak.

Miami County Public Health on Thursday reported the death of a woman between 70 and 79, which is the 23rd COVID-19-related death in the county.

Health officials also confirmed the woman’s death is the 19th associated with the cluster of cases at two nursing homes: Koester Pavilion in Troy and SpringMeade Health Center in Tipp City. Her death is linked to SpringMeade, Vicky Knisley-Henry, health department spokeswoman said.

There are 134 COVID-19 cases (80 females and 54 males) with 48 hospitalizations.

The 23 deaths involve 11 men and 12 women; 15 were 80 or older; four between 70 and 79; three between 60 and 69; and one between 50 and 59, according to Ohio Department of Health data.
