The suspension was initially scheduled for March 23-30 and operations were to resume March 31.
The extension is a result of a large decline in demand in the automotive industry as a result of the pandemic, according to the manufacturer.
Honda is continuing to provide opportunities for workers to be paid, including offering full pay for some non-production days and pulling up vacation for others.

The manufacturer is using the extension as a chance to continue deep cleaning the production facilities and common areas to protect workers when they return to the plants.
Honda has about 14,000 Ohio employees and hundreds of workers who either work at a pair of Troy distribution centers or commute to the company’s central Ohio plants from the Dayton and Springfield areas. The company’s engine plant in Anna is an hour’s drive north of Dayton.
