Coronavirus: Newcom’s Tavern closes temporarily after worker tests positive

Newcom’s Tavern in the Oregon District is the latest business to close temporarily after an employee tests positive for the coronavirus. AMELIA ROBINSON / STAFF

Another Oregon District business is temporarily closed after an employee tested positive for the coronavirus.

Newcom’s Tavern, at 418 E. Fifth St. in Dayton, announced Monday evening that it will be closed through July 17 as a precaution.

Two other Oregon District businesses, Heart Mercantile and beck + call boutique will be closed until July 16 after an employee who worked for those businesses tested positive, a co-owner said last week.

Newcom’s owners posted on the tavern’s Facebook page that it contacted Public Health - Dayton & Montgomery County, has scheduled testing for employees and are sanitizing the building.

The staff member who tested positive last worked June 26. Newcom's said that any patrons who visited on Friday or after who is concerned can schedule a test at Walgreens in Centerville, which offers free testing with an appointment.
