Vacant house fire in Dayton remains under investigation

UPDATE @ 7:35 a.m: A fire at a vacant house on Monmouth Street remains under investigation Monday, fire officials said.

Fire crew responded to the house in the 30 block and found smoke and flames coming from the first floor just after 6 a.m., per initial reports.

The house, which has no electricity or gas, was supposed to be unoccupied, though witnesses say they saw people going in and out of the house.

Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the blaze. No injuries were reported.

Monmouth Street was blocked while crews were on scene.

Fire crews are battling a fire that was reported at a vacant house on Monmouth Street this morning.

Initial reports indicate an unoccupied house in the 30 block was on fire just after 6 a.m.
