Heavy smoke billowing from Kettering house when crews arrive

Smoke was billowing feet above a house with fire showing when crews arrived, Battalion Chief David Roth of the Kettering Fire Department said.

The cause of the fire, reported around 4:30 p.m. in the 4900 block of Marybrook Drive, remains under investigation.

The main fire damage was around the kitchen area of the tri-level home, but “smoke had went throughout the structure,” Roth said.

The resident was checked by medics but declined to go to the hospital.
