When crews arrive in the 3800 block, the barn was fully involved with heavy smoke and flames showing and immediately took a defensive approach to the fire, according to Ansonia Fire Chief Paul McClesky. Crews were able to knock down the fire and prevent the damaged barn from collapsing.

Officials said the property is known to be under renovation and had no power or other utilities connected to the residence or barn.
The cause and origin are unknown and remain under investigation.
The Darke County Sheriff’s Office along with Ansonia Fire and Rescue, Greenville Twp., Rossburg and Union City Fire Departments responded to the scene.
