UPDATE @ 2:25 a.m.: One person has died and another individual was transported by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital after a serious crash on Ohio 47 in Maplewood this morning.

Authorities and emergency crews responded to the single-vehicle crash in the 21000 block around 12:20 a.m., per initial reports.
According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s office, the vehicle was traveling west on Ohio 47 at high rate of speed when the driver hit a sharp curve, causing the car to go left of center and partially off the roadway. The vehicle then went airborne before the driver attempted to reenter the roadway where the vehicle flipped on its side and slid into a tree.
The male driver of the vehicle was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, sheriff’s deputies confirm. The Shelby County Coroner’s Office responded to the crash site.
The female passenger was able to get out of the car with the help of nearby neighbors. She was airlifted by Careflight to Miami Valley Hospital.
Her condition was not immediately known, though officials say she was conscious and breathing at the scene.
Neither the driver nor the passenger’s names were released.
Speed is a factor in the crash that remains under investigation, according to sheriff’s deputies.

Emergency crews are responding early this morning to a report of a single-vehicle crash that trapped the driver.
The crash was reported around 12:20 a.m. in the 21000 block of state Route 47 in Maplewood.
Shelby County dispatchers said that the driver suffered serious injuries in the crash, to which a CareFlight medical helicopter was requested.
