Dozens of crews started paving a busy stretch of Kauffman Avenue at Garland Avenue Wednesday morning.

This intersection will be closed today and traffic will be detoured through the shopping center plaza.

There will be three days of “rolling closures” depending on where crews will be paving each day.

News Center 7's Adam Marshall took a look at the project and what local drivers are saying.

One resident says he drives on Kauffman Avenue daily and says the new road will be worth the wait.

“I’m glad because you’ve always got someone that’s in a hurry. At least now there’s two lanes both ways. It will make it better, easier for people coming and going,” Johnny Pacheco said. “Hopefully that will lead to less accidents, but who knows. Time will tell.”

This work is part of a project to widen Kauffman Avenue to four lanes and add a turn lane.

Workers are also adding Fairborn’s first roundabout at Kauffman Avenue and Colonel Glenn Highway.
