Two residents said the Family Dollar stores in their neighborhood should not be allowed to sell beer and wine because they have not been responsible neighbors.
Matt Tepper, president of the Old North Dayton Neighborhood Association, said the Family Dollar at 645 Troy St. has not addressed inappropriate activities and trash on the property.
Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley said liquor licenses are a privilege and not a right and the city will fight to prevent businesses from getting licenses or work to get them revoked if they do not act responsibly.
The six Family Dollar stores that requested permits are:

- 440 N. James H. McGee Blvd.
