UD senior Michael Oliver said having “Dickie V” on campus to broadcast the game is like a dream come true.

“All 4 years I’ve really always wanted to hear Dicky V go ‘UD baby’ in his raspy Dicky V voice,” Oliver said as he did his best impression of the famous broadcaster.

“I’m hoping he comes over to the (student) section and engages with us, it’s just going to be wild, an experience we’re always going to remember.”

Vitale was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame as a contributor to the sport and started broadcasting college basketball in 1979.

He’s known for several catchphrases like “this is awesome baby!” and “diaper dandy!” (an outstanding freshman player), as well as his unbridled enthusiasm.

Dayton hosts Davidson today [Friday] at 7 p.m. and Vitale will be on the TV broadcast of the game.
