Dayton man charged with raping teen

Montgomery County prosecutors on Tuesday approved a charge of rape by force against a 21-year-old Dayton man involving a teenage girl.

Christopher Shelton Oakley, of Dover Street, was arrested late Sunday night on suspicion of raping a 14-year-old girl. He also had a warrant for attempted criminal damaging, according to a jail booking sheet.

Dayton police Sgt. Larry Tolpin said Oakley was intoxicated over the weekend and physically assaulted the teen, causing her to become unconscious for a short period of time. When she regained consciousness, Oakley allegedly compelled her verbally into sexual activity.

The girl told police she did so under duress and concern for her well-being.

The case is expected to go before a grand jury soon. Tolpin said additional charges may be brought against Oakley.
