According to court documents, Miamisburg officers encountered Watson at Red Roof Inn on April 3, 2018 after he fled there following the robbery in Indiana. Watson tried to flee on foot, but slipped and fell. While on the ground, he turned and pointed a gun toward police.
A Miamisburg officer wounded Watson “multiple times” in the left leg after the suspect pointed a “fully-loaded” weapon at police, Miamisburg Police Chief John Sedlak has said.
