DAYTON – The Dayton Metro Library recognized Mad River Schools for their exemplary participation in the 2016 Summer Challenge.

On Thursday, Dec. 15, the library Deputy Director, Rachel Gut, presented a plaque to Mad River Schools Superintendent Chad Wyen.

“We want to recognize the extraordinary effort on the part of Mad River Schools to partner with Dayton Metro Library in preventing summer slide in their students,” said Gut. “Their access to school events helped to increase the Summer Challenge participation at the Burkhardt Branch Library by 52% in 2016.”

During summer months, Dayton Metro Library offers the Summer Challenge, with activities and incentives that encourage reading and learning.

The next Summer Challenge will run May 17 through July 30, 2017 with the theme of Building a Better World.
