Dayton NAACP leaders chosen for statewide offices

Two leaders of the Dayton unit of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People were chosen to serve in statewide positions for the organization.

Tom Roberts was re-elected to serve as president of the Ohio Conference NAACP, according to a release.

Roberts is a former state senator and current second vice president of the Dayton Unit NAACP. He was re-elected as president of the Ohio conference with more than 68 percent of the vote.

Derrick L. Foward, who serves as president of the Dayton NAACP, was re-elected to serve as second vice president of Ohio’s NAACP conference, according to a release. Foward ran unopposed for the position.

Both Roberts and Foward were elected to lead the Ohio conference at the organization’s meeting Saturday in Toledo. Their two-year terms expire Sept. 25, 2021, according to the press release.
