Dayton police detain 2 people, search vehicle in shots-fired incident

Police are investigating a shots-fired incident Friday afternoon in the area of Nicholas Road and McArthur Avenue in Dayton.

There is a house on Nicholas Road that was hit by gunfire and Dayton police have at least two people detained and a car on McArthur Avenue they are searching, a Dayton police sergeant said.

Callers to 9-1-1 reported seeing as many as four people get out and run from a silver vehicle that hit a pole in the area, according to Montgomery County Regional Dispatch.

About a minute later, caller to 9-1-1 reported seeing a male dressed in a red hoodie, jeans and armed with a weapon running between houses from Nicholas Road to Ralliston Avenue in the neighborhood, according to regional dispatch.

"It sounds like someone is shooting over on Nicholas Road," one of the callers told a 9-1-1 operator with regional dispatch. "I just happened to look out my door because it sounded like a big boom."

The caller told the 9-1-1 operator the male wearing the red hoodie was behind a house on Ralliston Avenue.

The operator told the caller there have been other callers who reported seeing a vehicle accident and hearing shots fired.

The crashed vehicle reportedly had been stolen in West Carrollton.

No victims have been found, according to police and regional dispatch.
