Dayton officers partnered with St. John's Church English as a Second Language School Wednesday morning for a party for local refugees. Nearly 100 adults and children were gifted new hats, gloves, and mittens. Many refugees are not accustomed to the Ohio winters, according to a Dayton police spokeswoman.

Officers and members of the Dayton Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #44 also purchased gifts and coats for families on this year's Angel Tree. Dayton FOP Lodge #44 purchased new winter coats for children as well. Angel Tree allows families to be "adopted" by those in the community who provide them with needed gifts over the holidays, according to a Dayton police spokeswoman.
