How do you get the app? Search “Dayton Public Schools” in the App Store or Google Play.
District officials said the free download will place dozens of commands in the hands of parents who can select schools from which they want to receive announcements and updates.
Once the app is downloaded, district officials said, it can be customized by clicking “Settings” and selecting the school or schools from which you wish to receive information.
Here are some of the app’s features, according to the district:
- Listing of schools: Name, address w/map, main phone number, fax number and link to school Web page
- Here Comes the Bus: Receive information on real-time school bus locations and push notifications or email alerts when the bus is near
- Calendar: Link to district's Web page calendar
- Lunch Menus: Breakfast and lunch menus for elementary and high school
- Transportation info link: Opt in directions to receive bus information
- Social Media: Separate links for DPS Twitter, Facebook and Instagram
- DPS Quick Tip: Parents, community, staff and students can report and share photos with DPS contacts
