Britaney Jones, who was shot in the left hand and lost her thumb, and Brian Pinson, who was grazed in the lower back, are still suffering from the tragedy.
“That’s what I picture every time I go to sleep at night, every time I wake up, it’s like it just happened,” Jones said.
“It’s scary, you feel leery. You take precautions on things,” Pinson said.

Even though they say the tragedy feels like it was yesterday, they are still overwhelmed by the amount of support from the community – especially from the Gem City Shine Event.
“It makes me feel like I got people in my corner, makes me know I got people behind me,” Jones said. “We just need to come together as a whole, be a family, Dayton strong.”
