Dayton Shooting: Ohio AG’s crime victim compensation team in town Tuesday

The Ohio attorney general crime victim compensation team will be at the Family Assistance Center on Tuesday.

The center was set up in the Dayton Convention Center in the aftermath of the Dayton shooting in the Oregon District early Sunday that left nine people dead and 37 wounded or injured.

Dayton police fatally shot the gunman, identified as 24-year-old Connor Betts of Bellbrook, seconds after he opened fire in the entertainment district in the 400 block of East Fifth Street.

The compensation team will be at the convention center, 22 E. Fifth St., from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The free program allows crime victims/families to apply for out-of-pocket expenses regarding medical bills, time lost on the job, expenses for counseling and/or a funeral, mileage and more.
