Denny's building near downtown Dayton being demolished

The former Denny's restaurant building near downtown is being torn down.

As this news organization first reported in September, Miami Valley Hospital now owns the property.

The purchase includes a 0.42-acre tract and the former restaurant building at 1136 S. Main St., Dayton.

Hospital spokeswoman Sharon Howard said the property will be turned into green-space for the time being.

"We don't have any immediate plans for the space," Howard said.

The restaurant closed in Dec. 16, 2015.
