Ticking foil-wrapped item with wires in Harrison Twp. not explosive, deputies say

The Dayton Bomb Squad used a water cannon to dismantle a suspicious ticking item wrapped in aluminum foil with wires coming out of it.

The package was found around 2:45 p.m. along the curb in the 5400 block of Cornwall Drive in Harrison Twp.

The bomb squad dismantled it in place, and found it was not explosive, according to a release from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

North Main Street was closed between Woodbury Drive and Burgess Avenue to protect the public during the investigation. North Main Street was reopened at 5:40 p.m., deputies said.

Bomb squad crews have responded after receiving reports of a suspicious device that was found on Cornwall Drive in Harrison Twp.

Deputies and fire crews were dispatched around 2:45 p.m. Monday to the 5400 block of Cornwall Drive after receiving a report of a device that was wrapped in foil and was ticking loudly, dispatch records indicate.

Deputies have blocked North Main Street in both directions near Woodbury Drive for the investigation, according to our crew on the scene.

Additional details about the investigation were not immediately known.
