Did you know?

Not a runner? Doesn’t matter! You do not have to be a runner to attend the Air Force Marathon expo Sept. 19 and 20. Visit one of the many vendors at the expo. They will range from marathons to parks and recreation. Grab some freebies while you are there.

Hate traffic? Runners can avoid the headaches and park at the Wright State University Nutter Center parking lot and jump on the free shuttle service provided by RTA. Starting at 3:30 a.m., shuttle service will run every 10 minutes until 5 a.m. Return shuttles back to the Nutter Center will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Going to be dropped off to run the marathon? The Nutter Center will also be the designated location for runner drop off and pick-ups where they can ride the shuttle. Only runners with bibs can ride the shuttle.

Want to keep your runner’s spirits up? Spectators can cheer on their runner between Mile 14 and 15 of the full marathon at the Fairborn Flyzone located in downtown Fairborn. Free shuttle service will be provided from the start to finish line. There is one departure from the start line that will leave at 7:45 a.m. with multiple returns available. For more information, go to www.fairbornflyzone.com.

Hungry? Grab a drink or bite to eat from one of the food vendors at the finish line and while you wait for your runner to cross the finish line.

Waste no more! Instead of trash bins located all over, you will now see trash stations where volunteers will assist with sorting trash in order to reduce the amount sent to landfill. All left-over food will be donated, and compostable waste will be turned into compost for use in improving the local soil. Reduce, reuse and recycle!

Want to celebrate that big accomplishment? Starting at 5 p.m., come out to The Greene in Beavercreek after the marathon to hear live music from ‘80s cover band The Reaganomics. Partake in a beer tasting where your finisher’s medal gets you $5 off and enjoy special discounts from several restaurants and stores while you mingle with your fellow runners and the Air Force Marathon staff.
