“It’s kind of like the ‘Cheers’ of Lebanon,” he said of the bar and restaurant that opened in 1896.
But after a spring expansion to what is known as the Lebanon Room, and a transformation of its menu, Doc’s Place is now not just a bar and casual dining restaurant. It’s also a place for high-end steaks and seafood and authentic Italian cuisine, Teall said.
The expansion was needed because Doc’s was losing business, he said. “We were to the point of people having to wait an hour,” he said, “and unfortunately people didn’t feel they wanted to wait that long.”
After the expansion into an adjacent building, Doc’s now can seat up to 85.
Teall recently hired a new executive chef, Carlos Silveti an Italian-born chef trained in Mexico City, Spain and Italy.
The new menu includes a special Saturday Italian Night for $18.95, which features a soup or salad, one of six dinner entrees and Italian Ricotta Cannoli for dessert.
Doc’s Place also features live music Thursday through Saturday evenings.
