Police reports related to fatal shooting at Beavercreek Walmart on Aug. 5, 2014

After the shooting at the Beavercreek Walmart, Ronald Ritchie, the man who called 911, gave a statement to police in which he described what he saw that night.

Beavercreek police released written statements from nine customers and employees who were in the store at the time of the shooting of John Crawford III at the Beavercreek Walmart on Aug. 5, 2014.

The 20-page Beavercreek Police Department incident report includes the original offenses under investigation – homicide, inducing panic and aggravated menacing – as well as property impounded during the investigation.

Following the shooting, Beavercreek police command completed a one-page ‘response to resistance’ report that summarized the use of deadly force that night by one of the department’s officers.

Final autopsy

The final autopsy report for Beavercreek Walmart shooting victim John Crawford III indicated bullet wounds in both arms and through his trose. Investigators surmised he was shot twice, with one of the bullets passing through his torso and one arm, and the other striking the other arm. Toxicology reports found he had marijuana in his system at the time of his death.

Special prosecutor Mark Piepmeier showed parts of the PowerPoint presentation in the press conference Wednesday announcing a grand jury had returned no indictment on the officers, who entered the store and shot John Crawford III on Aug. 5, 2014.
