Dozens of area retailers, restaurants offer Veterans Day deals Monday

Area veterans can take advantage of dozens of meal and retail deals Monday.

Several restaurants and businesses are showing their appreciation today to people in the service by offering deals to veterans, retired and active-duty military members, along with their families. These include free or reduced price meals and discounts at stores.

Proof of military service is generally required; the forms of proof vary by business. Often they include photo military ID or discharge papers.

Here’s a list of the more than two dozen Veterans Day deals:

Kohl’s

Kohl’s stores typically offers 15 percent off purchases made on Mondays throughout the year with a valid military ID, military dependent ID or Veteran ID. Today Kohl’s will double that discount to 30 percent, the company told this news outlet.

Gordmans

Instead of a discount, all Gordmans stores will give 5% of today’s sales up to $50,000 to Pets for Patriots, which pairs pets with veterans.

Amazon

Active duty, veterans and reserve personnel can sign up for a year of Prime membership for $79 today, $40 off the normal price.

AMC Theaters

Get a free large popcorn today with the purchase of a military-priced movie ticket for a showing after 4 p.m. A free AMC Stubs membership is required.

Buckle

Shoppers at Buckle will get 10% off and free shipping with a minimum purchase of $129 through Nov. 18. Military members can register for the discount online.

Great Clips

Veterans and current military members can get a free haircut today or a free haircut card to use at a later date. The haircuts are redeemable through the end of the year.

Sports Clips

Free haircuts are available at Sports Clips today for veterans and active duty military.

Home Depot

The home improvement store offers a 10% military discount year-round.

Target

For the third year, active-duty military, veterans, reservists and their dependents can get 10% off purchases made in store and online today.

Walgreens

Service members and veterans, along with their families, can get 20% off eligible regular-priced items today with a Walgreens Balance Rewards.

Applebee’s Grill & Bar

Applebee’s will offer a complimentary full-size entree from a special menu to veterans and active-duty military. The offer is good for dine-in customers only today.

Bob Evans

Bob Evans is expanding its free offerings for veterans and active-duty military this year, offering a free meal from a select menu that includes breakfast options, soup and salad combos, and a selection from the value dinner lineup.

Bonefish Grill

All active and retired service members with a valid military ID can today enjoy a complimentary appetizer such as Mussels Josephine, Calamari, Imperial Dip or the chain’s signature appetizer, Bang Bang Shrimp. (The large portion of tuna sashimi is not available).

Carrabba’s Italian Grill

Carrabba’s Italian Grill is offering its Veterans Day special that includes a free order of Calamari with any purchase for all veterans, active military, police officers and firefighters with a valid military ID. All Carraba’s restaurants also offer 10 percent off to all active and retired service members anytime they visit their local Carrabba’s Italian Grill.

City Barbeque 

All day, veterans and U.S. military will receive a free sandwich, two sides and a regular beverage, available on either dine-in or carryout orders, at every City Barbeque location.

Logan’s Roadhouse

Logan’s Roadhouse is inviting all active-duty and retired U.S. military personnel to enjoy a free meal from of the American Roadhouse menu. This offer is available from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at all Logan’s Roadhouse restaurants nationwide.

O’Charley’s Restaurant & Bar

O’Charley’s will honor all active-duty and veteran military personnel with a choice of a free meal from a special Veterans Day “Thank You Menu.” O’Charley’s also offers a discount of 10 percent to military service members all year long, at participating restaurants.

Panera Bread

Veterans can receive a free You-Pick-Two meal that includes any two half-portions of soup, salad, sandwiches, flatbreads, or mac and cheese all day today.

Pilot Flying J

Pilot Flying J, which operates travel centers across the country, is treating active-duty and retired veterans to a free breakfast today. This includes a free Pilot Coffee of any size with a choice of one free PJ Fresh breakfast sandwich, breakfast pizza or breakfast grill item. Customers must download the Pilot Flying J app to redeem the offer.

Locations that do not have PJ Fresh breakfast items are still able to offer the deal on a grill items and coffee, according to a spokeswoman.

Pizza Hut

Hallrich Inc., the franchisee for all Dayton-area Pizza Hut restaurants, said its restaurants with lunch buffets will offer all veterans a free Pizza Hut lunch buffet today. Hours will vary, but most buffets will be ready to accommodate veterans between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Pizza Hut locations that do not have lunch buffets will offer veterans a free Lunch4Less meal deal.

Red Lobster

Red Lobster will offer a free appetizer or dessert to veterans, active-duty military and reservists with a valid military ID today. The offer is available for dine-in or on to-go orders picked up in-restaurant.

Red Robin

Red Robin is offering all veterans and active-duty military members a free Red’s Tavern Double burger with Bottomless Steak Fries at the Miller Lane, Beavercreek and West Chester Twp. locations.

Smokey Bones

All Smokey Bones restaurants are offering active-duty and retired military members a free dessert all day. Veterans can select from a Hot Bag O’Donuts, Chocolate Cake, Mixed Berry Cheesecake or a Belgian Waffle Sundae. The offer is valid on dine-in orders only.

Sweeney’s Seafood Bar & Grill

Sweeney’s in downtown Centerville will be offering a free Shrimp Cocktail to active military and veterans who purchase any dinner entree on Veterans Day.

White Castle

White Castle is celebrating Veterans Day by offering a free Combo Meal or Breakfast Combo Meal to all veterans and active military members who dine at one of its restaurants.
