One resident said they believed the spot could support businesses and thought building a city facility there was a wasted opportunity.

Mayor Paul Keller said five real estate consultants told the city that they would not do business in that spot, so the area seemed like a good place for the new public works building.
The 74,000-square-foot building will combine Fairborn’s water and sewage facility, the streets facility and the city’s equipment facility.
Funds for constructing the building will come from Fairborn’s water, sewage, streets, building and lands funds.

The Waterford Landing subdivision is located east of Interstate 675 off Yellow Springs-Fairfield Road. Developers want to add 106 units and 33 acres to the subdivision, which is already 145 acres.
CESO Inc. and DDC Management LLC are the developers of the property. Ryan Homes is the builder.
A few residents spoke out about water issues on their properties and voiced worries that the expansion could reduce the value of their property.
Council approved the expansion unanimously.
