Police: Drunk man became violent when son tried to help him out of car

A 45-year-old Fairborn man has been indicted on felony domestic violence charges.

David Earl Andress Jr. is being held in the Greene County Jail on suspicion of domestic violence (aggravated assault), third- and fourth-degree felonies, according to jail records.

Andress was arrested May 7 by Fairborn police and he was indicted by a grand jury on May 18, according to court records.

Andress was reportedly intoxicated when he got into an altercation with his son after they returned from drinking beer and liquor at Caddy’s Tap House, according to the statement of facts on file with Fairborn Municipal Court.

The victim told police his father had a lot to drink and when he tried to help him get out of the car his father became violent and started hitting him, according to the statement of facts.

Police said an officer tackled Andress to the ground as he was attacking his son when they arrived on scene. Police said Andress had a cut on his forehead that was bleeding profusely.

Andress is being held in jail on a $25,000 bond.
