Fairfield Kroger to undergo $1.5M interior renovation, Butler County’s latest upgrade

The Village Green Kroger is expected to start an estimated $1.5 million renovation of its interior sometime this year, according to permits issued by the city of Fairfield.

Shoppers will notice various changes in the store over the next several months, said Fairfield Development Services Director Greg Kathman.

"They're approved, ready to go from our end," he said.

The Fairfield Kroger opened in Village Green in the summer of 2002 after moving across Pleasant Avenue.

Kroger has been active in the region in recent years, adding a number of services — including curbside grocery pickup and limited home delivery — to make the shopping experience more convenient.

The supermarket chain has heavily invested in its grocery stores around the region in recent months and years. In November, it completed its year-long renovation at its Liberty Twp. store, placing an emphasis on fast and fresh foods, the Journal-News reported.

Downtown Fairfield development has been "real encouraging," Kathman said.

The renovation comes on the heels of Aldi opening a Faifield location in January. In 2018, Lindenwald Station Family Diner opened in Riegert Square, moving south from the Hamilton neighborhood it's named after, and a month later Om India opened in Village Green.
