TROY – The weekend quiet of the Knoop Homestead at the Lostcreek Reserve will be interrupted Saturday, Oct. 10 and Sunday, Oct. 11 for the fifth Fall Farm Fest hosted by the Miami County Park District.

The festival features a six-acre corn maze, a corn cannon, food, music, demonstrations/displays, farm animals, kiddie tractor pull, wagon rides along a lane lined with scarecrows, a pumpkin patch and children’s games, among other activities.

“This festival is a celebration of the agricultural heritage of Miami County,” said J. Scott Myers, executive director at the park district whose offices are at the reserve.

Hours are Saturday, Oct. 10, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 11, from noon to 5 p.m.

This year’s festival will feature additional food vendors, an oxen demonstration and the Troy Historical Society will set up a camp and dress in period clothes near the reserve’s cabin, said Amanda Smith, park district marketing administrator.

Admission is free with charges for some activities such as the corn maze, corn cannon, food and pumpkins.

Entertainment will include local/regional musical performers on two stages with a mixture of styles from singer-songwriters and bluegrass to folk and soft rock.

Also new this year is a Farm Bureau Moovie Night on Saturday, Oct. 11 following the day’s Farm Fest activities.

Beginning at 5 p.m. the bureau will host games and farm related activities such as cider pressing, sack race and square dance. The local Cattlemen’s Association will sell food and the movie “Charlotte’s Web” will be shown at 7:15 p.m.
