Victim ID’d in fatal head-on crash on state Route 66 in Shelby County

One  man was killed and a woman injured in a head-on crash Friday night on state Route 66.

The two-vehicle crash was reported at 9:20 p.m.

A northbound gold four-door Chrysler crossed the center line of state Route 66 and went into the path of a southbound black Chevrolet Cruse, causing a head-on collision.

The driver of the northbound vehicle, Patrick D. Craft, 45, of Houston, was taken to Wilson Health, where he later died of his injuries.

The driver of the southbound car, Sarah Pyers, 24, of Troy, also was takend to Wilson Health after she was trapped and crews had to cut her out of the car.

Shelby County Sheriff’s deputies and Houston Fire and Rescue responded to the crash, which remains under investigation.
