Fire Station
First, the city completed the 23,000-square-foot Brookville Fire Station at 775 E. Upper Lewisburg-Salem Road, built on 2.74 acres. The facility costed the city $6.3 million in bonds and is expected to be used for the next 50-70 years. The station was dedicated in July.
The city touted that the facility will be used regionally as a training center and Emergency Operations Center. The station will serve the communities of Brookville, northern Perry Twp. and southern Clay Twp.
Extensions
The Market Street extension project was completed with the installation of street lights on the southern end. Market Street was extended all the way through to Upper Lewisburg Salem Road. That corner houses the new fire house. The project cost $2.25 million.
Bridge reconstruction
Third, the Ohio Department of Transportation completed and reopened the Arlington Road bridge over Interstate 70. The project cost $5.3 million, according to City Manager Gary Burkholder.
The project lasted about five months, and traffic was diverted to other areas. Residents were pleased when it was reopened for the normal traffic flow.
Water tank
Fourth, the city completed the new 200,000-gallon water tank at the Northbrook Industrial Park. The projected helped retain jobs in the area, and officials said it will help bring more jobs to the area. The tank cost about $921,000 to date.
Trash services
Fifth, the city completed its first year of a contract with Rumpke for trash services. This freed up three service department employees, and they can focus other infrastructure projects within the community, according to city officials.
