This fire truck crashed as it was responding to a crash on Old East Central Avenue in Miamisburg.

Emergency crews headed to a crash on an icy roadway also spun out on black ice on the way to the crash.

The first crash was reported around 3:45 a.m. on Old East Central Avenue near Heincke Road.

A fire truck from the Miami Valley Fire Districe accompanying the medics to the scene of the crash reported heavy ice on the roadway and alerted dispatchers that they had also crashed amid the slick conditions, officials said.

After the firetruck hit a patch of black ice on Old East Central Avenue, it slammed into a utility pole on the side of the road. The utility pole and the truck were damaged and at least two firefighters were transported to the hospital to be treated for injuries.

A large tow truck was called to the crash scene to clear away the damaged fire truck from the roadway.
