Getting all of the agencies together in one area makes it a one stop shop for everyone to see.
Garrett has been organizing Fit Fest since the first one, which was held in 2008.
“This marks our fifth Fit Fest in conjunction with National Health and Fitness Month. We have partnered with the Civilian Health Promotion Services and Health and Wellness Center programs working together collectively to have this successful event that keeps growing every year,” said Garrett.
This year’s Fit Fest had 40 booths and numerous activities for participants, such as an Olympic lifting competition, bench press competition, health screenings, running clinic and a Wright-Patterson Medical Center blood drive, to name a few.
“This year’s event was a great success with approximately 1,700 participants coming through our fitness center! The vendors and sponsors were outstanding with all of their information. This is the first year for the Band of Flight, the Flight Support Squadron food truck and the guys from the Kittyhawk Lanes to provide food and entertainment. The weather was excellent for the day. The 5K Fun Run was a great addition to the Fit Fest. Gem from the Dayton Dragons even visited Fit Fest,” said Garrett.
Fit Fest is free for attendees. The Wright-Patterson community is encouraged to attend next year’s Fit Fest.
“People will attend the next Fit Fest because we have so many things to offer and there are always patrons that come and realize what great facilities we have. Those that have attended in the past know what to expect, and it’s a great day to have so many people attend,” said Garrett.
