“I’m sure city council will select the best person to move the city forward,” Rose said. “They have five very qualified candidates.”
Clayton city council approved a resolution in August 2019 to contract with Cincinnati-based Management Partners for an executive recruitment search. The city spent $17,990 to get the consulting help.
Management Partners conducted a nationwide search and received 28 applications.
Management Partners presented their candidate recommendations at two different special council meetings. After council reviewed those resumes, these five candidates were scheduled for first-round interviews.
After this first round of interviews, council will have the option of narrowing the candidate list down further and conducting a second set of interviews or may elect to add new candidates to the list and conduct more first-round interviews.
Rose said depending on how interviews on Monday and Tuesday go, the city will probably make an offer to one of the candidates by the end of the month.
The city hopes to have a new city manager in place sometime in March, Rose said.
