Foodbank opens drive-thru food pantry early, long lines reported

The Foodbank opened its drive-thru pantry about an hour early Wednesday morning.

Long lines of cars were already reported in the area when pantry started at 9 a.m.

Those in line by noon will be served. The Foodbank will drive their van to the end of the line around that time to mark where the line ends.

Police are in the area to help direct traffic.

On Tuesday, The Foodbank partnered with Wright State University for a mass food distribution at the Nutter Center.

About 4,500 people representing 1,381 households were served, highlighting how much the coronavirus pandemic has impacted the Miami Valley.

Even though many were served, thousands more were turned away.

Previous distribution events at the Nutter Center it served between 600 and 800 households.
