Big promotion for former Dayton OSP major

Ohio State Highway Patrol Major Richard S. Fambro was recognized by Superintendent Colonel Paul A. Pride during a ceremony honoring newly promoted OSP members today.

Major Fambro was promoted to lieutenant colonel on April 29 and will transfer his current assignment in the Office of Personnel to serve in the Office of the Superintendent.

In 1990, Lt. Col. Fambro became a member of the 119th Academy Class and was assigned to the Dayton post.

Lt. Col. Fambro was selected as Post Trooper of the Year in 1994, and transferred to the Springfield Post in 1997 serving as assistant post commander.

Lt. Col. Fambro completed advance leadership training at Northwestern University's School of Police Staff and Command in 2002.

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Ohio Dominican University in 2004.

Lt. Col. Fambro began his OSP career in August 1989 as a cadet dispatcher at the Lancaster Post.
