Funeral services have been set for a Kettering boy who was shot and killed just days before his 18th birthday.

Noah Matthew Channell, a student at the Ohio Virtual Academy high school, also worked at a local Penn Station sandwich shop, where he was working to become a manager, according to his obituary.

Channell was shot Dec. 13 in the chest inside a Parran Drive home in Kettering. He was taken to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, where he died of his injuries.

Another 17-year-old has been charged with reckless homicide and receiving stolen property because the firearm had been reported stolen, Kettering police said. It appears that teen was careless with a loaded gun when it fired, police said, but it remains under investigation.
