The 13-year-old document that preceded the construction of Austin Landing and additional growth around the interchange near the Warren County border in the process of being reworked.
The process will involve significant public input, Miami Twp. Deputy Community Development Director Kyle Hinkelman said.

“The process is really an information give-and-take between the community and the township,” Hinkelman said. “We want to make sure we’re going where the community wants to go.”
Other revisions to the comprehensive plan were completed in 1981 and 1990, he added.
Two public forums are scheduled for Dec. 4 at Cox Arboretum on Ohio 741. A morning session will run from 9-11 a.m. while the second one will go from 6-8 p.m., he said.
“We encourage residents of the township, owners of businesses in the township and people who do business in the township” to take part, Hinkelman said.
The 2006 update included topics such as community and economic development planning, community priorities and transportation planning, and growth and schools, among others, records show.

The goals in that plan included: Constructing the Austin interchange; improving roads and intersections throughout the Dayton Mall area; and establishing more bikeway and trail linkages with local and regional bikeway and trail systems, records show.
That plan was completed a series of four forums held in January and February 2005 at Miamisburg High School, the arboretum and township offices, records show.
This year’s input has involved a survey, and future comments will be sought as they are “an integral part of creating a comprehensive plan,” according to the township.

“Throughout the process, you will be asked to get involved in shaping our community’s future by sitting on community advisory boards, taking surveys, attending meetings or reviewing plan documents,” the township’s website states.
The township has established a page devoted to the plan on its website. The link is https://www.planmiamitownship.com/
The township “will use this new, updated plan as a framework for making future decisions based on the plan’s long-term goals,” according to the township’s website. “The plan will aid them in making choices consistent with the community’s vision for land use, services, transportation, parks and recreation, and housing among other topics.
The process of updating the plan started in August, and the target for completion is the fall of 2020 Hinkelman said.
“It is a time consuming process” that will be “a comprehensive look at our codes and the land use of the township,” he added.
