The Huber Heights Gander Mountain is liquidating its store as the outdoor chain has filed for bankruptcy and the future of the store remains unclear after signs claiming the store is closing were posted at the business.
According to the Gander Mountain website, a liquidation sale is already underway at the 126 stores across the country, including the location at 8001 Old Troy Pike.
A sign hanging on the outside of the Huber Heights store reads “Going Out Of Business” and “Store Closing” when our crew visited the store Sunday morning.
In March, Gander Mountain filed for voluntary Chapter 11 bankruptcy and restructured the store and in May the company was acquired by Camping World Holdings, Inc.
Camping World CEO Marcus Lemonis said not all the Gander Mountain stores are closing, despite information posted on the Gander Mountain home page.
Lemonis said Camping World purchased a portion of the Gander Mountain business.
“Myself along with the Camping World team went in and we bought the intellectual property, brand, the assets,” Lemonis said in a video on social media Sunday morning. “What we did not buy is the inventory that’s in all of the stores, the distribution center, and a group of liquidators bought that.”
Lemonis said he is planning to keep around 70 stores open, according to a video he posted Sunday morning, although he doesn’t specifically address the Huber Heights location in the video.

This news organization called the Huber Heights Gander Mountain store, which declined to comment.
Lemonis said the liquidators have “a right to sell all of the inventory.”
It’s unclear if the Huber Heights location would reopen or remain in operation under the Camping World or Gander Mountain name at a later date.
“We at Gander Mountain believe that our best days are still ahead of us and we ask that you join us in welcoming and supporting this successful transition,” a statement read on the website. “Camping World shares the same passion for the outdoors as Gander Mountain and our customers, making for a great melding of businesses and outdoor communities.”
Gift cards will be accepted until May 18, according to the Gander Mountain website.
Gander Mountain’s website said to check back in the fall for more details.
