In Greene County, adoption fees will be half-price from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the shelter, 641 Dayton-Xenia Road.

For cats, the rate will be $45 and $67.50 for dogs, according to  Julie Holmes-Taylor, GCAC director.

“All our pets are micro-chipped, spayed or neutered, have first shots and wormed,” Holmes-Taylor said.

In Dayton, the humane society is having a “Name Your Own Price” event, in which people can name their own price as low as half-off the regular pet adoption rate.

HSGD’s event is from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday at 1661 Nicholas Road.

The humane society advises that lines may be long and those interested in adopting can come prepared by bringing up-to-date veterinarian records for all pets in the home, bringing a copy of the lease showing that pets are allowed at your home; and filling out an adoption application ahead of time, which can be found at the Dayton humane society's website.
