New for this year’s Air Force Marathon, gift registrations for the half and full marathon can be purchased for junior enlisted members stationed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

“People are always wanting to express their appreciation for our military members so what better way you can do that is by purchasing a registration for a young Airman so they can have the opportunity to experience their race, the Air Force Marathon,” said Air Force Marathon Director Brandon Hough.

Fifty Airmen will be selected to receive a free registration.

Junior active-duty enlisted members, E-1 to E-4, who are interested in receiving a donated entry are asked to submit a short paragraph to Katie Klein, Air Force Marathon office administrator, at kathryn.klein.2@us.af.mil, explaining why they are interested in participating in this year’s marathon. The deadline to submit a request is May 23.

Responses received to date range from improving race time, maintaining physical fitness after weight loss and challenging themselves both physically and mentally.

To purchase a gift registration, go to the Air Force Marathon registration website at https://raceroster.com/events/2019/17452/air-force-marathon. Gift registrations can be purchased two different ways:

• If registering for themselves and purchasing a gift registration: At the end of the registration process, along with the optional purchases, such as the Breakfast of Champions and pasta dinner, select the option to add a gift registration.

• If purchasing a gift registration only: Go to the store option instead of race when registering.

The Air Force Marathon is scheduled for Sept. 21. The Sports & Fitness Expo is held at Wright State University's Nutter Center and is scheduled for Sept.19-Sept. 20. The event will also feature a Gourmet Pasta Dinner and Breakfast of Champions, scheduled for Sept. 20. Get more information about the race at www.usafmarathon.com.
