Girl sleeps in park while visiting mother

A 17-year-old California girl in Dayton visiting her mom was forced to sleep on a bench at a park near a local elementary school for days until police helped her make her way back west. The girl’s father called Dayton police Friday after he received a call from his daughter saying she has been sleeping at a park near Westwood Elementary School for three days because her mother kicked her out of the house, according to a Dayton police report. Authorities tracked down the teenager and she told them a youth group which was cleaning out the school, allowed her to use the bathroom and the air conditioning while she slept at a nearby park, according to the report. Police paid a visit to where the girl was supposed to be staying with her mother, but couldn’t make contact with her. Police facilitated the teenager to return to her father in California after providing her with clean clothes and coordinating with other family members to purchase a bus ticket.
