A GoFundMe created for the victims of Monday night’s stolen police cruiser crash had raised more than $50,000 in its first day.

Eleanor McBride and Penelope Jasko, both 6, were killed in the crash and 10 others were injured.

Melissa Jasko was driving a van with six of her children and at least one child of her sister’s, Sarah McBride, when the crash occurred.

Police said Raymond Walters Jr. stabbed his father in a black pickup truck, then crashed that truck and stole a Riverside police cruiser that eventually crashed into Jasko’s vehicle, killing the two children. A third child is in critical condition.

The GoFundMe was created on Tuesday afternoon for the McBride and Jasko families. By 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the fund had raised $51,000. Earlier in the day the goal was to raise $50,000, but the fund now has a goal of $60,000.

“No amount of money can return those sweet girls to life,” the webpage says. “What we can do to support these families, however, is to help defray their funeral costs, hospital bills and replace the van.”
