Payment locations for water, sewer bills discontinued

Effective Jan. 1, the following locations will no longer accept water or sewer payments for the Greene County Sanitary Engineering Department:

  • Cedarville Hardware, Cedarville
  • Discount Drug Mart, Bellbrook
  • Key Bank, Beavercreek
  • Key Bank, Bellbrook

County water and sewer customers can pay their bills by using one of the following payment options:

  • Sign up for an automatic debit program
  • Telephone call center using credit/debit card or electronic checks at 855-699-4600
  • Online bill payment using credit/debit card or electronic checks at www.co.greene.oh.us/sanitary
  • Electronic payment through customer's online banking service
  • Mail payment. Allow seven to 10 days for payment delivery
  • In person or 24-hour night drop box available at 667 Dayton Xenia Road, Xenia, Ohio 45385

Parks & Rec hosting children’s nature class

The Fairborn Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a children’s nature series on Saturday, Nov. 14, at Valle View Reserve, 1097 Empire Court.

Participants will learn about resident squirrels by taking a hike through the woods, and finding out where they live and what they eat. Parents are welcome to stay and explore with their children. Please dress appropriately for the weather.

Session 1 is from 10 to 11 a.m. for ages 3-5, and a parent/guardian is required. Session 2 is from 1 to 2 p.m. for ages 6-9. The fee is $4.

The registration deadline is Friday, Nov. 13.

City to collect leaves beginning Monday

The City of Xenia’s leaf pickup program begins Monday. Crews will travel each street only once this season to pick up leaves raked to the curbside. Here is the schedule:

Nov. 9-13 — Zone 1, northeast section from Church Street and continuing north to include North King, North West, North Galloway and the Beverly Hills, Summerbrooke and Kinsey Meadows neighborhoods.

Nov. 16-20 — Zone 2, neighborhoods west of U.S. 35 bypass including New Arrowhead, Windsor Park, Reserve of Xenia, Sterling Green and Wright Cycle Estates.

Nov. 23-27 — Zone 3, southeast section from Church Street and continuing south to include the East End, South End, South Hill and Old Arrowhead east of U.S. 35 Bypass.

Nov. 30-Dec. 4 — Zone 4, all Laynewood neighborhoods and the neighborhoods that include Charles, Maple and Center streets.

Reminders about leaf collection:

  • Leaves need to be raked to the curb before the Monday of a zone's pick-up week.
  • Cars should not be parked within 10 feet of the leaf pick-up area.
  • Leaf piles must be free of sticks, limbs or trash.

Citizens can also mulch or bag their leaves. Rumpke will take up to 14 bags per residence each week on regular trash collection days. Bagged leaves can also be taken to the Greene County Recycling Center on Greene Way Boulevard.
